Design and perform server and security audits, system backup procedures and other recovery processes in accordance with the company’s disaster recovery and business continuity strategies. Create and maintain documentation as it relates to system configuration, mapping, processes and service records. A very wide range of responsibilities in a 24x7, highly available Linux SaaS environment. Was a Subject Matter Expert for many different technologies including Linux, Ansible, NGINX, and our flagship software product. Identified and performed projects and tasks both individually and as part of a team. Wrote and maintained a large library of automation scripts using Python (preferred), Bash, and Perl. Maintained and optimized Nagios solution which not only monitored our infrastructure, but hundreds of SLA-backed sites as well. Designed and implemented a brand new configuration management solution using Ansible. This was after comparing the Ansible solution to others such as Chef, Puppet, and Salt. Ansible architecture can be provided by request. Performed leadership duties for the SaaS Operations team including delegating, assigning tasks, identifying problems/solutions, and consulting on other team member’s projects.
Supported Infrastructure: Windows Active Directory. Databases: Oracle 11g and 12g, Microsoft SQL Server 2008 and 2012. CentOS, Ubuntu, and OpenBSD servers providing most of the infrastructure. Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2012, and Windows Server 2012 R2 performing Windowsspecific services. NGINX reverse proxy set up in highly available pairs. VMware ESX/vSphere.

Responsible for network design and maintenance including network topology design, access and permissions, security policy management, security auditing, and basic helpdesk functions. Was the primary decision-maker for infrastructure/systems design. Notable projects included: Full network redesign/implementation, full Active Directory redesign/implementation, introduction/implementation/support of Linux servers performing various functions, and internet/intranet website hosting.
Supported Infrastructure: Windows Active Directory. Routed network including 10+ VLANs backed by CISCO routers and switches. Microsoft Hyper-V servers including replication from a primary host to a standby host for business continuity. Multiple VMs to support Vendor applications, databases (Microsoft SQL Server 2008, MySQL), Microsoft Exchange, WordPress, and a home-grown off-site backup solution.
